Stephanie's Class in Collage and the beginnings at "I AN I Artists Retreat" August 15-22 2015

First we had a smudging ceremony to clear the energies before
embarking on our week of classes and creating.

John Williams starts the process

Chuck Potter is ready to be cleansed.

Reneemarie as well.

Here is Stephanie posed to begin our wonderful journey into the
subtleties and complexities of collage. Note the beautiful surroundings. Great place to work.

The two pieces below are from Chuck Potter

Here is just one of Stephanie's from her Geisha series.

The following are just some more examples of Stephanie's she worked on during the week.

Reneemarie Jordan was so prolific this week it was hard to keep up with her.
Driven is the word that comes to mind as well as inspired.

Work from the recent "I AN I Artists Retreat" in the high Sierras [ August 2015 ]

These are the pieces I completed while at the retreat. I took two wonderful classes given by two amazing artists. First there was a collage class taught by Stephanie Gray where we learned how to put "underpants" down first to give a base collage coat. It changed everything. Our second class was in Encaustic taught by Reneemarie Jordan. It was the full on deal using not just beeswax but also Demar varnish and a torch.I am so thrilled with all I learned. I taught a class myself in Monoprinting using a Gelli Plate. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and some of the work that came out of it was just mindblowing.

These three were my first pieces from the collage class with Stephanie

The following are my encaustic pieces from the class
with Reneemarie Jordan.
I absolutely loved this class. The last 3 were collage pieces I started in Stephanie's class and finished in the encaustic class. That is the beauty of a week long art retreat.

The two next pieces were done with work I did in my Monoprint
class, collaged them on board, then used encaustic over them.

(Collage then encaustic over)
